Sustainable Tourism, B.A.: Become a Change Agent for the Future of Travel
About the Program
The global desire to explore and connect through travel remains steadfast. Following the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, the tourism industry has reestablished itself as a key economic sector. This resurgence, while beneficial in terms of employment and economic growth, also introduces socio-cultural and ecological challenges. Global travel can lead to acculturation, violations of social standards and human rights, environmental degradation, and rising CO2 emissions, which contribute to climate change.
The interdisciplinary Sustainable Tourism, B.A. program addresses these complex issues. Its mission is to maximize tourism’s positive impacts while minimizing its negative consequences. This transformation requires skilled professionals ready to shape the future of global tourism sustainably.
As a student, you will engage with current challenges facing the tourism industry and develop practical, real-world solutions. Drawing on insights from tourism, sustainability, sociology, economics, and ecology, the program provides a well-rounded perspective and prepares you to become a “Change Agent” in your career.
